Details
Sixteen is the number that actually covers a house on Diwali night: four for the threshold, four for the balcony rail, the rest for the pooja shelf and the dining table. Each terracotta cup is filled with soy wax and pressed with dried petals and leaves by hand, so no two look quite alike.
The wax is clean-burning and the cups are sturdy enough to wash and reuse for Kartik Purnima, a wedding mehendi or next year.
