Details
These diyas are carved from wood in the workshops of Rajasthan, each surface hand-engraved with floral patterns using small chisels. The engraving leaves shallow ridges that catch and hold candlelight differently than a smooth surface, the shadows move as the flame does. No two are identical; the hand that held the chisel decided the depth.
Diya making in India is as old as fire itself, the form has barely changed across millennia. These handcrafted wooden diyas adapt that vernacular into something carved and geometric, each one hand-engraved in Rajasthan with floral patterns pressed into the wood grain. The white-and-brown finish lightens the surface without erasing the texture underneath.
Set them on a windowsill, a mantel, or a thali, and light them. The engraved pattern throws a shallow lattice of shadow on whatever surface they rest on. They are small, handmade objects that change the quality of a room in the evening. The kind you keep out year-round, not just at Diwali.

Materials + Care
Pure brass, sheesham, cotton — colours from a dye pot, not a swatch. Brass deepens with use; that is not a defect, it is the object becoming yours. Care notes for each material live in the Details above.
