Chintz Assorted Set Brick Red, Ivory and Navy Cotton Curtains

The Chintz pattern was India's first international luxury export, more valuable than spices in 17th-century European markets, its dense florals and trailing vines considered impossible to replicate by hand. They were not impossible. These curtains, block-printed by artisans outside Jaipur, Rajasthan, carry that same intricacy: opulent blooms, ornate foliage, all pressed into cotton with carved wooden blocks, panel by panel.

Three assorted panels in brick red, ivory, and navy, each carrying the same hand-block printed Chintz motif, each reading differently depending on which ground the light finds. The brick red is warm, almost terracotta in low light. The ivory is expansive. The navy is the one you look at longest. Together, they make a set that builds rather than matches.

Pure cotton, printed in Rajasthan, hanging from a rod that belonged to you before these arrived. The pattern improves with distance, stand back from it and the whole composition becomes clear.

Care Instructions

• Machine wash cold or hand wash in cold water.
• Wash separately for first two washes to prevent colour transfer.
• Do not bleach. Line dry in shade, avoid direct sunlight while drying.
• Iron on medium while slightly damp for best results.
• Avoid tumble drying on high heat.
