Chintz Sheer Off-White, Brick Red and Navy Striped Floral Curtain

Chintz on a sheer ground is a different proposition than Chintz on a solid one. When the cloth is transparent, the block-printed florals and stripes seem to float rather than sit, the pattern becomes light-dependent, more visible in morning, almost disappeared by noon. These sheer panels carry an 18th-century Indian Chintz motif, handcrafted by artisans outside Jaipur, Rajasthan, on cotton gauze in off-white, brick red, and navy.

Hand-block printed on pure sheer cotton, the 18th-century Chintz florals and stripes that appear on this panel do not block the light coming through them; they pattern it. In off-white, brick red, and navy, the sheer is lightweight enough to layer over a solid curtain or hang alone at a window where you want pattern and transparency at once.

The handmade block-print impression on sheer cloth is different from print on solid cotton, it is absorbed differently, less opaque, more washed into the ground. This is its particular quality, not a limitation.

Care Instructions

• Machine wash cold or hand wash in cold water.
• Wash separately for first two washes to prevent colour transfer.
• Do not bleach. Line dry in shade, avoid direct sunlight while drying.
• Iron on medium while slightly damp for best results.
• Avoid tumble drying on high heat.
