Dusty Pink & Blue Reversible Mulmul Quilt

In Sanganer, outside Jaipur, Rajasthan, the same block can be inked in different colors across a single morning's work, the artisan reads the cloth, decides the pressure, chooses the combination. This quilt carries dusty pink and blue together, hand-block printed on mulmul cotton using carved wooden blocks. The two colors read as opposites and complements at once, the combination that appears everywhere in Indian craft, from embroidery to pottery to the painted walls of old havelis.

Mulmul is the cloth that defined Indian summer bedding long before thread-count charts existed, woven loose, cool against skin, light enough to fold to nothing. This quilt is hand-block printed in Sanganer on mulmul, in a palette of dusty pink and blue, with both floral and geometric motifs across each face of the reversible construction.

The cotton fill keeps the weight minimal while providing exactly enough warmth for a room cooled by air conditioning. Sleep under one face tonight; flip it next week. The block print looks different in morning light than it does at midnight.
