Hand-Crocheted — Pearl Lumba Rakhi

Worked entirely by hand, this rakhi is built the way a grandmother's doily is built — one crochet stitch pulled through the next until lavender and sage thread hold a small, dense rosette. Pearls and sequins are set into the weave rather than glued on top, so the shine sits inside the thread, not over it. A set of two, sized to sit neatly at the wrist, meant for the sister-in-law as much as the sister — tied on, admired for a second, then simply lived in for the rest of the day.
