Every cross-knot rakhi begins as loose thread — tassel, dori, and embroidered motif worked by hand into a single diamond knot, finished with a kodi shell at its centre. The rakhi ties at 36 cm, the lumba companion piece at 26 cm, sized for the two wrists Raksha Bandhan calls to be bound: brother's and sister-in-law's. In blue, the deep kind that photographs well against skin and doesn't fade into the background of the day. Tie it before breakfast. Wear it until the knot wears through on its own.
