Details
Matcha green is a colour borrowed from Japanese tea ceremony, yet it finds its Indian analogue in the green of fresh henna, of neem leaves, of the first growth after monsoon. On a pit loom in Rajasthan, handwoven in pure cotton, this curtain carries that green without any self-consciousness. The stripe is structural, formed at the weave, the colour even because the thread was dyed before it was thrown.
A single-colour handwoven cotton curtain in matcha green, one of those shades that works with wood, with white walls, with clay pots, with other textiles. The stripe is not decorative; it is the weave itself, the green thread crossing the natural warp in a rhythm set before the first inch of cloth was made. The result is a surface that is not flat: it has texture, breath, the slight ridge of a hand-held tension.
This curtain is complete in itself. Pair it with a block-printed panel or hang it alone, either way, it holds.
