The bread box and cutlery caddy, both woven from willow over dark wood by the basket makers of Ganderbal, Kashmir, working with KILAB. The bread box is long and low, built for a baguette or a morning's bread. The cutlery caddy has four open compartments. Made in the same workshop, from the same willow, for the same table.

From the Ganderbal district of the Kashmir Valley, this handcrafted set pairs the long, low bread box with the four-compartment cutlery caddy, both woven from willow wicker around a charcoal-finished dark wood frame. The bread box keeps morning bread from hardening (the wicker breathes; air circulates; bread stays as it should). The cutlery caddy holds the implements used to eat it.

Set them together at the kitchen counter or on the table itself. The pale willow and dark wood hold the same conversation across both pieces, making the combination feel considered without being coordinated in a self-conscious way. This is what happens when two handmade objects are made in the same workshop from the same materials: they keep natural company.
