Kashmir Willow Serving Tray & Cutlery Caddy

Both pieces from the Ganderbal district, Kashmir, the wicker basket makers who have sustained the valley's weaving tradition. The tray carries things; the cutlery caddy holds the implements used to eat them. Made from the same willow, around the same dark wood frame, in the same workshop. The consistency is not incidental.

From the Ganderbal district of the Kashmir Valley and the KILAB collaboration, this two-piece set pairs a wide serving tray with a four-compartment cutlery caddy. The willow wicker weave and charcoal wood frame are consistent across both pieces, giving the combination a coherence that a mismatched table setting never achieves without effort.

The tray carries chai to the living room; the caddy keeps the spoons and forks organized at the table's edge. Use them together at meals, or independently across different corners of the house. The wicker is natural and breathes; the dark wood frame gives both pieces a grounded quality that the willow alone would not. The combination is the point.

Care Instructions

• Brass will develop a natural patina with use, this is not a defect, it is the object becoming yours.
• Hand wash only with mild soap and lukewarm water. Never put in dishwasher.
• Wipe dry immediately after washing. Do not leave wet.
• Avoid abrasive cleaners and steel wool, use a soft cloth only.
• Polish periodically with a brass-cleaning powder or lemon and salt to restore lustre.
