Kashmir Willow Storage Box & Cutlery Caddy

Both pieces are woven by the same hands, the wicker basket makers of Ganderbal, Kashmir, from willow that grows in the valley and is harvested seasonally. The storage box lid is fitted; the cutlery caddy's compartments are open to the air. Together they set a table that announces where it is from without needing to explain itself.

From the Ganderbal district of the Kashmir Valley, made in collaboration with KILAB, this handcrafted two-piece set pairs a lidded storage box with a four-compartment cutlery caddy. Both are woven from willow wicker around a dark-stained wood frame, the natural wicker contrasting against the charcoal wood in a combination that is at once distinctly Kashmiri and entirely at ease in a contemporary kitchen.

The storage box holds rotis, dry fruit, or whatever needs covering. The cutlery caddy sits at the table's edge, organized without being rigid, the compartments are wide enough to hold a mix of utensils rather than insisting on a specific arrangement. Use them together or separately; the handmade wicker weave on both is the same, so they hold their company.
