Kashmir Willow Storage Box, Tray & Cutlery Caddy

Three pieces from Ganderbal, Kashmir's wicker basket-making tradition, made in collaboration with KILAB: a lidded storage box, a flat serving tray, and a four-compartment cutlery caddy. All three are woven from willow over dark wood. All three come from the same hands. The set is complete because it was conceived that way.

From the Ganderbal district of the Kashmir Valley, this three-piece set covers the kitchen table in full: the storage box for keeping things covered and fresh, the serving tray for carrying them with intention, the cutlery caddy for the implements used to eat them. The willow wicker and charcoal wood frame are consistent across all three, making the set visually unified without being matched in a heavy-handed way.

Bring all three to the table for a dinner that is both organized and unhurried. Use them separately throughout the week. The wicker breathes and the wood holds, a combination that makes each piece as practical as it is considered. Natural materials that came from a specific valley, made by a specific community, for a table that deserves to know where its things are from.

Care Instructions

• Brass will develop a natural patina with use, this is not a defect, it is the object becoming yours.
• Hand wash only with mild soap and lukewarm water. Never put in dishwasher.
• Wipe dry immediately after washing. Do not leave wet.
• Avoid abrasive cleaners and steel wool, use a soft cloth only.
• Polish periodically with a brass-cleaning powder or lemon and salt to restore lustre.
