Kashmiri Two-Tier Collapsible Willow Fruit Basket

Two tiers, two sizes of basket, one spine of dark wood, and when you are done, the whole structure collapses flat. Kashmiri artisans wove these in willow, selecting long flexible shoots that dry taut without cracking. The tiers are hinged to collapse for storage and splay outward when loaded. Light enough to carry. Sturdy enough to hold.

Woven in the Kashmir Valley from hand-harvested willow, this handcrafted two-tier fruit basket was designed to do what most baskets cannot: come apart for storage. The tiers hinge and flatten when not in use, then open back into their full form when needed. Each tier is woven separately, the smaller basket above, the larger below, both finished with dark wood trim.

On a console or kitchen counter, it holds whatever the season brings: citrus in winter, mangoes in summer, a bowl of bananas whenever. The handmade wicker's open weave keeps fruit aired. The two tiers stack a small counter's worth of produce into a vertical form that takes up half the space.
