Lippan Wall Hanging Ocean Blue and White

Lippan Kaam in Kutch, Gujarat begins with clay and ends with light. Women of the Rabari, Kumbhar, Marwada, and Mutwa communities press geometric motifs into wet clay, flowers, chevrons, lattice, and embed mirrors before it dries. The motifs here draw from the palace architecture of Jodhpur: blue, white, considered geometry.

This handcrafted wall hanging is made in Kutch, Gujarat by women artisans working in the Lippan Kaam tradition. The floral and geometric patterns are built up in handmade clay relief by hand; mirrors are embedded before the surface sets. The blue-and-white palette references the palace architecture of Jodhpur while the technique is entirely Kutchi.
