Details

In Moradabad's metalworking quarter, Pital Nagari, the Brass City of Uttar Pradesh, brass dabbas have been made for kitchen use for centuries. These two jars are cast from pure brass and hand-etched with floral designs traced by steel stylus against the metal surface. The pair is sized for the daily kitchen: one for tea, one for sugar, or two for whatever your counter demands.

Cast and handcrafted in Moradabad, India's Pital Nagari, the Brass City of Uttar Pradesh, these two dabbas come in small and medium sizes, fitted with lids that seal well without being airtight. The floral etching is worked freehand into each jar's body: a dense ring of botanical motifs that circles the form and catches light at an angle.

On a kitchen shelf or counter, the two handmade jars sit together as a pair. They hold whatever the daily kitchen requires, tea, sugar, cloves, cardamom, with the natural antimicrobial quality that makes brass a traditional choice for food storage. The brass deepens with use. After months on a busy counter, these artisanal jars look better, not worse.

  • Wipe dry immediately after washing. Do not leave wet.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners and steel wool, use a soft cloth only.
  • Polish periodically with a brass-cleaning powder or lemon and salt to restore lustre.
