Details

Woven on a flat loom using the punja technique, named after the comb-like tool the weaver uses to beat each row of weft into place, by artisans in Rajasthan working with jute and wool. The geometric pattern is built directly into the weave structure; it cannot be separated from the object itself. The green comes from the wool, dyed before the weaving begins.

The punja is a comb-like beater used in flat loom weaving across Rajasthan, and it gives this technique its name: each row of weft is pushed tight against the previous one with the punja, creating a dense, interlocked textile with no pile. The jute and wool construction means this rug has both the structure of natural fibre and the warmth of wool, it sits flat, doesn't slip, and resists the kind of crushing that ruins pile rugs.

At its size, it works as a landing mat, a workspace anchor, or a threshold piece, the kind of rug you step onto first in the morning. The geometric pattern doesn't age out of rooms. Earth greens and natural jute read as neutral next to almost anything.

Materials + Care

Pure brass, sheesham, cotton — colours from a dye pot, not a swatch. Brass deepens with use; that is not a defect, it is the object becoming yours. Care notes for each material live in the Details above.
