Rust and Off White Reversible Crochet-Border Door Curtain

A reversible curtain is a quiet luxury: one panel, two moods. The rust side carries warmth; the off-white side carries light. At the border, a handmade crochet lace edge worked by cotton thread and a small hook, a trim that takes longer to make than the curtain itself.

This curtain is woven in pure cotton in a two-tone colour block, rust on one face, off-white on the other, with a handmade crochet lace border along the edge. Flip it top to bottom and the curtain becomes a different object: the off-white leads, the rust grounds. The crochet border stays, the same in both orientations. It blocks roughly 70% of light, enough to soften a bright window without closing the room.

The crochet detailing comes from a tradition with real depth, 150 years of women artisans in the Godavari district who have made this kind of lace by hand. On a curtain, it reads as a detail. On the people who made it, it reads as a livelihood.
