Dhurrie Rugs
A dhurrie is the flat-woven Indian rug: no pile, so it lies flat and folds easily. Most of ours are cotton or cotton and jute, hand block-printed with carved wooden blocks in Chintz florals, Jaipuri, Kalamkari and Mandana patterns, and Dabu mud-resist indigo, much of it in Sanganer, near Jaipur, Rajasthan. A few are punja-woven on a Rajasthan handloom in jute and wool, the pattern built into the weave. Sizes run from 2 x 3 to 4 x 6 feet, for an entry, a bedside or a kitchen. Orders ship from India with tracking and reach the US in 10 to 14 business days, and shipping is free on orders of $99 and up.
Questions + Answers
What sizes do they come in?
From 2 x 3 ft to 4 x 6 ft, most in 3 x 5 or 4 x 6 ft and several designs in 2 x 5 or 2 x 7 ft runner sizes. We do not carry room sizes such as 8 x 10 ft. Each product page lists the sizes.
What are they made of?
Cotton, or cotton and jute, for the block-printed dhurries, and jute and wool for the punja-woven rugs. Each product page lists the material.
How do I clean a dhurrie?
Spot clean with mild detergent and cold water, blot rather than rub, and air dry flat. Do not machine wash. Vacuum on low suction and turn the rug now and then for even wear.
How long does delivery to the US take?
Orders ship from India with tracking and arrive in 10 to 14 business days in the US. Shipping is free on orders of $99 and up.
