Mandana Teal Hand-Printed Tribal Pattern Cotton Rug

Mandana art belongs to the women of Rajasthan's Hadoti region, geometric, auspicious, drawn on freshly plastered floors before ceremonies. Before festivals in Rajasthan's Hadoti belt, women would draw Mandana patterns on walls and floors, white chalk on red earth, elaborate geometric forms considered auspicious, marking the home as consecrated. This ritual art, practiced across generations as a form of domestic devotion, is the source of the pattern on this handmade hand-printed cotton dhurrie. The wooden blocks that carry the design were carved from those same forms.
