Details

From the village lanes of Kutch, Gujarat, where every exterior wall tells a story in mud and glass, these two discs arrive carrying the warmth of a brick-red desert sunset. Lippan artisans roll and press the clay with their palms before embedding each mirror shard by hand, no two placements exactly alike. The circle is the oldest and most recurring form in Kutchi domestic art.

Kutch is a district that teaches you to look at walls differently. Here, the Lippan tradition, raw clay pressed into pattern, shisha mirrors embedded into the wet surface, is not decorative in origin but devotional. These two brick-toned discs are made by Kutchi artisans who have carried this practice through family lines, now giving it a contemporary scale suited to urban walls.

Arranged together they read as a pair; separated across two walls they still speak the same visual language. The brick tone is deep and grounded, it works against white plaster, aged wood, and dark-painted surfaces alike. The mirrors fracture into points of light as the room shifts around them.

Materials + Care

Pure brass, sheesham, cotton — colours from a dye pot, not a swatch. Brass deepens with use; that is not a defect, it is the object becoming yours. Care notes for each material live in the Details above.
