Chintz Revival Green and Brick Red Bed Cover

The Chintz tradition began with Indian artisans printing cotton for export, fabrics so coveted in 18th-century Europe that they were eventually banned to protect local weavers. This bed cover from Sanganer, outside Jaipur, Rajasthan, is that lineage continued: carved wooden blocks, hand-inked, pressed into pure cotton, pattern built repeat by repeat. Chintz was never a European invention, it was Indian cloth that sailed west and conquered drawing rooms.
