Details
Chintz printing in India predates European obsession with it by centuries. In Sanganer, outside Jaipur, Rajasthan, the technique is unchanged: a carved wooden block inked by hand, pressed into cotton, aligned by eye to the previous repeat. This sheet in Ivory, Taupe, and Navy Blue carries 18th-century floral patterns, each printed motif sharp at the edges from the pressure of the artisan's palm.
The Chintz tradition is Indian in origin, the word itself comes from the Hindi chint, meaning variegated. This bedsheet carries that lineage forward, hand block-printed in Sanganer, outside Jaipur, Rajasthan, with 18th-century floral patterns that once made Indian cotton the most coveted textile in the European market. The palette here, Ivory, Taupe, Navy Blue, is quieter than classic Chintz, built for a bedroom that needs depth without loudness.
The pure cotton surface is soft from the first night and grows more so over time. The pillow covers carry the same print, the same hand, the same block. This is a bed that looks considered. It is, by design, exactly that.
