Details

Woven in the Ganderbal region of Kashmir using the Keani Keam willow wicker tradition, strips of harvested willow bent and woven by hand over a wood frame. The indigo-to-brown ombre is achieved by the artisans themselves, dying the upper willow strips in indigo before weaving so the gradient is structural, not painted on. It fades from the blue of a Kashmir sky into the brown of the willow itself.

From the Ganderbal valley in Kashmir, where artisans weave harvested willow into Keani Keam baskets and vessels using a tradition unchanged for generations. This pair of planters introduces color through the willow itself, the upper strips are dyed in indigo before weaving, creating a gradient that fades from indigo at the top into natural brown at the base. The ombre is built into the structure, not applied over it.

Two planters, slightly different in how the gradient reads, because the dye and the weaving are both done by hand. Pair them together or separate them across a shelf. The indigo pulls cool and the brown pulls warm; together they negotiate into something that makes everything around them look more considered.
