Details
Handcrafted in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India's Pital Nagari, from 100% pure brass, and etched with the geometric border motifs that have defined Kanjeevaram silk weaving in Tamil Nadu for centuries. The finish here is bright rather than antique: the brass is polished until the etching reads as a raised pattern catching light. Two sizes, one design language.
The bright-finish versions of the Kanjeevaram jar carry the same etched geometry, the same reference to Tamil Nadu's silk borders, the same handmade artisanal work from Moradabad's metalworkers, but with a cleaner, more present surface. The polish shows every fingerprint for the first few months. Then the handling begins to warm the surface, and the brass shifts toward amber in the places it is touched most.
Tea in one, sugar in the other. The lids close with the quiet click of a well-made thing. On a kitchen counter they hold their own alongside both matte stone canisters and the stainless steel that never goes away. Brass has been used to store dry goods in Indian kitchens for centuries, it is not a novel idea, only a right one.
