Kashmir Willow Storage Box & Cloche Platter

Two pieces from Ganderbal, Kashmir, made by the wicker artisans working with KILAB. The storage box holds with a fitted lid; the serving platter covers with a woven dome. Both are willow over dark wood. They were made in the same workshop, by the same hands, and it shows.

From the wicker basket-making tradition of Ganderbal in the Kashmir Valley, this set brings together a lidded storage box and a domed serving cloche. Both pieces use the same willow-wicker-over-dark-wood construction, pale, reedy natural wicker set against a charcoal wood frame, so they hold a shared visual identity even as they serve different functions.

The storage box keeps rotis warm, or dry fruit organized, or bread from hardening. The serving cloche covers food at the table before the meal begins. Use them separately throughout the week, then bring them together when the table is set. The wicker is natural and breathes; neither piece will trap moisture the way a sealed container does.

• Store in a dry, well-ventilated space away from moisture.
