Marigold Pattern Hand Block-Printed Cotton Towels

The marigold has been India's threshold flower, strung at doorways for weddings, festivals, arrivals, for as long as anyone can remember. In Sanganer, outside Jaipur in Rajasthan, that same flower is carved into teak and pressed into cloth. It arrives on your towel still holding some of that intention.

This set is block-printed in Sanganer, Rajasthan, a town whose printing tradition predates the railways. The marigold motif here is rendered in a handmade, hand-mixed pigment, pressed into 300 GSM waffle weave cotton via a carved wooden block, the same method used across the region for centuries, applied to a form you'll actually use. The waffle structure absorbs quickly and releases moisture into air just as fast, which is the technical reason it works. The marigold is the reason you want it.

The color will soften slightly in the first two washes as the artisanal dye settles. After that, it holds. Use these every morning and they will become one of those handcrafted objects in your home that you stop noticing and then greatly miss when they are gone.

Care Instructions

• Machine wash cold, gentle cycle.
• Wash separately for first two washes to allow dye to settle.
• Do not bleach, natural block-print dyes will fade under harsh chemicals.
• Tumble dry low or line dry in shade.
• Iron on medium if needed; avoid direct heat on the printed surface.
