Rust and Off-White Royal Courtyards Reversible Quilt

The Royal Courtyards Collection takes its reference from the textiles of palace interiors, the quilts that dressed sleeping rooms and resting alcoves, hand-printed and hand-stitched by craftspeople for whom this was not a side occupation but a complete life's work. This quilt is made from fine cotton mulmul, filled with pure cotton batting, and printed in Sanganer, outside Jaipur, Rajasthan, using carved wooden blocks. The Rust motifs on Off White have been drawn from palace-wall paintings.

Rust against Off White is one of India's oldest and most reliable color combinations, warm without being loud, present without being demanding. The ornate motifs on this quilt originate in the decorative vocabulary of Rajasthani palace art, translated into hand block-printed pattern in Sanganer, outside Jaipur, Rajasthan. The quilt is reversible, each face carrying a different design, so its character changes when you turn it over.

Fine cotton mulmul outside, pure cotton fill inside. No synthetic materials anywhere in the construction. Lightweight and breathable, the kind of quilt that actually gets used rather than stored. The stitching is done by hand, the lines running through in a grid that holds the fill in place and shows, on close inspection, exactly how much care went into the making.
