Sheer Taupe and Olive Green Mulmul Curtain

Taupe and olive green, two colours drawn from the landscape outside Sanganer, outside Jaipur, Rajasthan, where the earth is sandy and the trees grow in the gaps between old city walls. This sheer curtain is hand-block printed on mulmul cotton using carved wooden blocks: a marigold motif in a palette that reads as quieter than most. At a window, it is barely there until the light comes through it.

Mulmul cotton is a weave defined by its absence of weight, open-structured, almost transparent, it does not intercept light so much as receive it. This handcrafted sheer curtain is hand-block printed in taupe and olive green in Sanganer, outside Jaipur, Rajasthan, using carved wooden blocks carrying a marigold motif. The palette is restrained, closer to the earth tones of a dry landscape than the saturated hues of most Indian textiles, which makes the curtain suited to rooms that already have warmth and need a frame rather than a colour.

• Machine wash cold or hand wash in cold water.
• Wash separately for first two washes to prevent colour transfer.
• Do not bleach. Line dry in shade, avoid direct sunlight while drying.
